Hoffman Construction BP#UWST-06.J and UWST-06.K _Bid Date: August 6_ Sound Transit U250 University of Washington Station Bid Package #UWST-06.J: Code Required Signage Bid Package #UWST-06.K: Final Cleaning Prebid Meeting and Site Visit: July 22, 2014 at 2:00pm BIDS DUE: August 6, 2014 at 2:00pm Hoffman Construction Company of Washington (GC/ CM) requests sub-bids for the above on behalf of the Owner, University of Washington. The University Link Light Rail (U-Link) is an extension of Sound Transit's Link light rail system from downtown Seattle north to the University District and the University of Washington. The University of Washington Station (UWS) contract is one of 10 major construction contracts that make up the University Link Program. UWS is a cut-and-cover underground transit station to be located between Montlake Boulevard and Husky Stadium beneath what is now surface parking lot Ell. The footprint of the station is 470 feet long and 58 feet wide with a 32-foot wide station platform located 90 feet below grade. UWS patrons will use elevators or escalators to travel the vertical distance, passing through a central mezzanine emerging within the at-grade station head house. The UWS will be constructed using a method known as modified top-down construction. This involves building the beams and wales as the excavation of the station progresses. This technique is intended to ensure compliance with UW schedule requirements for early surface restoration and turnover of areas of the parking lot and access facilities prior to completion of the station interior work. A 4-foot thick slurry wall around the perimeter of the station will be built under a prior contract for excavation support. In addition to the transit station, the underground structure also includes a track crossover area in the southern 310 feet of the facility that will be excavated under a prior contract and used for tunnel bor- ing and mucking operations. Due to the concurrent construction schedules, the site will be shared by the tunnel contractor and the station GC/CM for approximately 27 months before the station GC/ CM has exclusive use of the site. The GC/CM will also complete the interior structure and finishes in the crossover box area as part of the UWS contract. The scope of work for these bid packages includes furnish and install code required signage and final cleaning scopes of work complete. Refer to bid documents for complete bidding requirements and additional information. Bidders must be licensed in Washington State Labor and Industries at the time of submission of their bids. Contact Washington State's Department of Labor and Industries (Internet http://www.lni.wa.gov) for additional information. This is a Prevailing Wage project. This Contract is subject to Washington Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) prevailing wage requirements as well as the Federal Department of Labor (DOL) prevailing wage requirements. The higher of the two prevailing wage rates will prevail. In the event that a state prevailing rate for a particular classification is available but a federal rate is not available, the procedure outlined below for determination of a federal rate shall be followed. In the event that a federal prevailing rate for a particular classification is available but a state prevailing rate is not available, the procedure outlined below for determination of a state prevailing rate shall be followed. The Bidder shall comply with the requirements of both the state L&I and the Federal DOL, for posting notices of applicable wages, submission of certified payrolls, record keeping and other applicable administrative requirements. Bid documents may be examined at local plan centers, viewed free of charge on-line at http:// www.bxwa.com, or obtained at cost from Olympic Reprographics/ ARC, 206/622-6000. A non-mandatory, but strongly encouraged, pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for 2:00pm, July 22, 2014 at the Sound Transit Offices at the UW Station Site located at 3720 Montlake Boulevard NE, Seattle WA, 98195.
