Newark Campus AHU Systems Upgrade and Asbestos Abatement at 703 East Maple Avenue, Newark, NY Description / Requirements The project includes work associated with removal and replacement of an existing air handling unit, and upgrades to additional existing air handlers in the basement of Building #58, the Vienna Building. An existing air handler in the basement of the Vienna Building will be demolished and removed and replaced with a new air handler. Additional existing air handlers will be ?re-furbished? in place, including; new motors, new door seals, cleaning air handler cabinets and coils, and installation of new economizers, ductwork dampers and controls. Distribution ductwork will be cleaned, new access doors installed, and all existing duct mounted reheat coils will be cleaned. Existing lined ductwork will be removed and replaced with new insulated ductwork. Access to duct and coils will require the removal of portions of existing ceilings and walls. Once the work is complete, walls and ceilings will be re-built, finished and painted to match. Masonry work will be required to patch and repair floor penetrations between the basement and the first floor where new ductwork is installed. Economizer relief fans will be installed to serve the existing plenum return ceiling, and DDC controls will be updated. Asbestos abatement will be required in some locations where construction work will disturb existing hazardous materials. There will be two contracts awarded for this project: Mechanical Contract estimated at $700,000.00 to $800,000.00, and Electrical Contract estimated at $50,000.00 to $100,000.00.
